Morning broke like a shot Like the starting line is all we got We pretended we were holding on But some words don't translate And it's not always just right or wrong So colour me in like the lines are there Or just hold me up like your really care But every morning I can see the cracks The light through the window The panic attacks again Right now I am deserting the ship And I will find out where it's leaking While we're sinking like a stone And I'll bring you home Find me something I can read Some fantasy I can believe And I'll hold on oh so tight Till everything feels alright again Right now I am deserting the ship And I will find out where it's leaking While we're sinking like a stone And I will go down if I need to And I will touch the ground If we are all that we can be, you and me We'll be fine And I'll bring you home

World War 04:01
I swear you were spitting venom I guess I was pretty drunk You kept saying that you loved me I kept saying that's enough And all the while the band just marched right on And all the while we hummed to different songs You told me you were angry You swore I buried all your hurt While I dug a little deeper Until I swallowed all the dirt And all the while our bones they turned to dust And all the while our friends just drift from us But we'll be so happy You'll find Jesus, then you'll tell me Let's just wait for some World War And all our problems will be taken care of So why would you fight for me? You'd be so happy, so right, so complete And you swore that could never be I read the book, baby So we'll be so happy You'll go to heaven and you won't invite me So I guess I'll wait for that World War Cause what more do I have to wait for? So why would you fight for me? You say you've got solutions like I've got collusions And I know you do not trust me I read the book, baby

I was so certain, had it all figured out We built a kingdom and we wore the crowns But if all that's left is an empty chest in an empty house Then I guess that we had mediocrity to hold our hands We better go They want a show And I will not let them down But it's over now And if all that's left is an empty chest in an empty house Then I guess that we got mediocrity to hold our hands We better go They want a show And I will not let them down But it's over now
4.
I can't believe all of our histories I feel your bones under my bed Oh the winter, howling and blistering I can't believe a thing that you said All of the birds, they have flown south As you took the words out of my foul mouth And I can't believe anything that you said I can't believe a thing that you said And all of the roads that we drove I never felt close, and we never got home again All of the birds, they have flown south As you took the words out of my foul mouth And I can't believe anything that you said I can't believe anything thing that you said
5.
Doubt 03:52
You sold me out So I still have doubts You broke me down So I still have doubts My mother she told me the water was warm My father he told me to sin is to come undone I lied again, I lied again You said the truth did not need proof So I still have doubts And baby I'm sorry still I will be til we don't have doubts My mother she told me the water was warm My father he told me to sin is to come undone I lied again, I lied again

about

The Greylings was recorded over Christmas 2012, after the completion of our debut album. We relished the opportunity to ignore computers and synthesisers and vocoders, and to put together five songs that were spontaneous, warm and honest. Recorded primarily in Josh's bedroom in Northcote, Melbourne, and mixed and mastered at Jack The Bear's with our best friend in the entire world, Andrei Eremin, the release is our proudest work to date.

We hope you like it.
